As a lifelong reader of biography and, more recently, a whole lot of memoir, this was interesting and clearly describes what makes a book a joy or a chore to read. I want to read every word Francis Wilson has written. Top notch!

I preordered Liza’s memoir as I am a fan and do know the words to everything on Liza With a Z and have seen her live twice. In recent interviews, her voice now is shaky, and she’s very short of breath. I was curious how she would record an entire audiobook. The narration noticeably altered with some odd, quirky pronunciations, and her famous giggles are missing, still, I’m glad to have this.

Wow.

Thanks for this. An interesting look at the craft of the ghostwriter.

"I consciously write bespoke biographies, cutting my cloth to fit my subject. It’s a form of homage for me to write a De Quinceyian life of De Quincey, a Lawrencian life of D.H. Lawrence, or a Sparkian biography of Spark."
