Welcome. It’s genuinely good to see NYRB experimenting with a space that still values patience, argument and serious reading.

I hope you also take the opportunity to read other voices from the Lit Stack community.

This feels like a thoughtful and generous arrival.

There’s something quietly reassuring in seeing a publication with such a long history affirm, again, that the world can still be understood through careful writing.

Substack, at its best, really does seem to offer that slower, more human rhythm, a place where criticism, essays, and conversation can breathe without being rushed into noise.

I’m glad to see The New York Review of Books here, carrying its rigor and curiosity into this space.

omg Needle in a Substack is the most brilliant title for a Substack. I wish I had come up with it!

welcome!

Welcome! Like I said in Notes, I think established brands joining Substack should be required to adopt a few newsletters on here since the brands are burying us needles.

I'm a subscriber of the magazine, can I get the subastack subscription with that too?

Welcome! I hope you make room for the self- published and those who publish through an Amazon imprint like Lake Union. A lot of great voices are muted b/c of the association with Amazon, and though I’ve come to peace with that—and certainly understand—would it not be a wonder for the media to allow some of us into your embrace?

Welcome! But I hope the real freedom of thought and speech does not scare you to death! (The same could be said to New Yorker)!!! Enjoy the freedom of opinions in real shape!!
